Romance Weekly – My Life as a novel?

love-write-chat

Welcome to the Romance Writers Weekly Blog Hop.

The Romance Writers Weekly crew is a group of romance writers who hang out on our Facebook Page, and do a weekly blog hop to answer questions about our writing and face writing challenges.

If you’ve just hopped over from Brenda Margriet’s blog post, welcome.

Mountain Fire

If you’re starting your blog hop here, feel free to jump back and see what Brenda had to say. Also check out her hot novel, Mountain Fire.

Be sure to check out Victoria's Ida and the Nor'easter.

Today’s topic comes from Victoria Barbour – If your life was a romance novel, what subgenre would it be, and why would your hero be amazing? Also, what would you call it? Can you write a blurb for it?

I have such an unfair advantage this week I (almost) feel guilty, because that book is already in progress.

The subgenre would be erotic romance of course, it’s what I was created for. My hero is amazing because he’s me.

[Note from Amy: Do not feed the ego! Come on Marc, tell them about me.]

Of course love. ♥

girl across the hall

If you’ve read That Girl Across The Hall then you know a little about my girl, my heroine, and how we met. Our story has had its share of ups and downs. The first part is chronicled here on my blog, but also in my blog compilation A Man in the Shadows.

A Man in the shadows - season 1 - Half Cover

I suppose the actual book would be entitled something like just: In the Shadows.

I will probably have Amy co-author it with me, as it’s her story too.

But we have a ways to go to get to our ‘happy ever after’ so it will be a while before this sees print. And who knows, maybe it’s not Amy I end up with.

[Amy: He’s a jerk sometimes, but a lovable one.]

In any case, continue your Romance Writers Weekly blog hop over at Dani Jace’s blog: http://www.danijace.com

And for a great escape from the winter blues, check out her wonderful Sun and Sin:

Romance Writers Weekly – Inspiration.

love-write-chat

Welcome to the Romance Writers Weekly Blog Hop.

The Romance Writers Weekly crew is a group of romance writers who hang out on our Facebook Page, and do a weekly blog hop to answer questions about our writing and face writing challenges.

If you’ve just hopped over from J.J. Devine’s blog post, welcome.

Into the Darkness

If you’re starting your blog hop here, feel free to jump back and see what J.J. had to say. Also check out her wonderful paranormal novel, Into The Darkness.

J.J. has also provided our topic for the day: What inspires you? Music? Reading? Movies? People in your life? Situations in life? What gets you motivated to sit down and write?

My inspiration comes right from my characters. As a fictional character myself, I get the chance to sit down over a beer or glass of wine and hear their stories first hand. Do I embellish? Sure, it’s my right as an author. But the story, the inspiration, comes right from the mouths of my characters.

For instance, earlier this autumn I was invited to a backyard barbecue at Mike’s house out in the suburbs. There I met Slade Steele, a CIA secret agent.

Now normally Slade wouldn’t tell anyone he’s a secret agent. But with me, he happily spilled a wonderful, sexy story about how he met Jennifer (Not your average girl next door). It’s the story  I entitled Suburban Spies, and it will be coming out January 27th in the Soul Mate anthology Cherished Secrets.

I don’t know. My characters just love telling me their stories. Maybe I’m just that easy to talk to.

So, what inspires Leslie Hachtel? Hop on over to her blog at http://lesliehachtelwriter.wordpress.com to find out.

And check out her wonderful historical romance The Defiant Bride. It’s a steal at just 99¢.

A short excerpt from Suburban Spies

Excerpt:

She slunk toward him, all sensuality and sin. “You will tell me where they are before this night is through.”

She was probably right, but maybe . . . if he played his cards right . . .

Lilac and honey filled his senses. The fragrance was all Jennifer, and incredibly sexy. He ignored the allure. Raising an eyebrow, he hardened his resolve. “That depends on how persuasive you can be.”

He’d endured water-boarding, bamboo under his fingernails, and the lash of a whip without cracking. But this?

This would be torture.

Romance Writers Weekly – Firsts

love-write-chat

This is my first week blogging with the Romance Writers Weekly crew. I’m excited to have been accepted into this wonderful coalition and I’m looking forward to joining in on their activities. You can find the group daily on our Facebook page and each week we blog about a different topic.

If you are joining me here from the wonderful LOVExtra – Romance Reviews blog, welcome. If not, feel free to jump back and see what Tracy Gee had to say on today’s topic.

And speaking of that topic, let’s dive in: Today Brenda Margriet wants us to: talk about “Firsts.” Everyone can choose their top three “First” memories and write about those (they don’t have to be on the list here). Some suggestions are: First book you remember reading (or being read to you). First romance novel you fell in love with. First “big” trip (eg. out of country, out of state/province, without parents). First love/kiss. First pet. First Christmas/other holiday (eg. when you were a child, after you were married, after your first child.)

Chef d'Amour

And don’t forget to check out Brenda’s delicious romance novel, Chef d’Amour:

Firsts!

As a fictional character (and yes, I know I’m breaking the forth wall here, but hey, if Deadpool can do it…), I don’t have a lot of history to delve into. Still, I do have a number of firsts. One of the advantages of being fictional is that, for the most part, everything is written down somewhere.

Like my first day of life. Who else can remember their birth? I do. January 12th 2013. Yup three years ago today. And you can relive it with me here: https://marcstevenserotica.wordpress.com/2013/01/12/sex-happens/

Then there was my first published work, That girl across the hall. Just a short story I whipped out to test the waters.

If you want to check that out, I just happen to be giving that away FREE: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B3OSHSY

And for my last first. It’s the reason I came back. The reason I’m here today. My first professionally published story. Coming January 27 (or there about) my first novella, Suburban Spies, will be released from Soul Mate Publishing in the anthology Cherished Secrets.

And they’re moving us from the Erotic Romance to the Steamy Romance category, which is the direction I’ve decided to move in my writing anyway. This is really great news. What do you think of the cover?
